Unique Features

Hyper Power Catamaran
What is so special about an EkoKat?

In addition to the spectacular price there are a great many reasons why the EkoKat Hyper Catamaran is such a game-changing yacht and so very unique and different from anything else that has come before.

Power Catamarans have already gained huge popularity in very recent years on account of the exceptional amount of living space they offer over monohull yachts. EkoKat however has gone one step further and taken a giant leap forward in time, rethinking traditional Power Catamaran accommodation layouts.

As well as offering the highest levels of opulence and luxury, EkoKat is about usable recreational living spaces on board, and cleverly creates the incredible illusion, ambiance and feel, that you are actually on board a 100-120ft Superyacht.

Using the very latest state-of-the-art technology and equipment, EkoKat proudly offers so many unique and superyacht features, most of which as standard issue, it is easy to see why it is also being dubbed the 'smartest superyacht in the world'

Super Yacht Flybridge

Quite simply a 120ft superyacht-sized flybridge top deck lounge on a half-sized 60ft boat. Ekokat's fundamental full beam (width) design means we are able to provide a sky lounge top deck almost 26ft (8m) in width. With over 550sqt (50sqm) of floor space to relax and enjoy, Ekokat pushes boundaries and seems to defy logic by providing spaces that would normally be found on a conventional 100-120ft monohull yacht! As well as a simply enormous space to relax, Ekokat's sky lounge is set up to provide you with all you need to spend the entire day and night up here if you wished. Everything has been painstakingly thought of and all designed around practical experience. At the rear you have options for sun loungers, a full-width raised sunpad (with storage underneath for a beach club) or sunpad complete with jacuzzi. A galley cum sit-up bar seating 6 is fully equipped with sink, fridge, freezer, storage and ice maker. We even have a superyacht dumb waiter to bring all your provisions up from the galley kitchen below in the salon (penthouse) apartment. We have never seen one of these before on a yacht under 100ft in size, have you? On the other side of the deck is a full electric griddle BBQ. Our centerpiece forward sunpad is raised up from the ground by 1.2 metres, specifically so you can relax with an unobstructed 180° degree view whilst staying just out of wind when moving along at speed, or if it is a windy day when on anchor. From this position, the owner can sit to the front and operate the boat whilst staying in the company of friends and family. Underneath this sunpad is a slot for a large oval acrylic dining table top, which when quickly removed can be placed on the coffee table behind to transform this drinks/light snacks area into one of 5 places on the boat to formerly dine. Behind the sunpad facing the rear is a huge 55 inch electrically raising/hidden smart TV. Our four Bessenzoni captain helm seats from Italy are precisely positioned for optimum views for both drivers and guests. With XENTA system joystick and all controls in the armrests we have created a superyacht style and true 'Star Trek' style driving experience, with two giant 24 inch Raymarine multi-function displays. These screens even provide 180° degree vision forward and rear above the water, and forward and down underwater via the 4K infrared panoramic motor-controlled cameras. The latter being perfect for the captain to navigate day and night, and avid fisherman and the kids to marvel at life below the surface. Encapsulating and covering all of this luxury and high tech is a magnificent and simply huge solar array. With retractable sections front and rear to let the sun sneak in for sun worshippers, this unprecedented amount of solar drives over 100kwh of power into the battery system ensuring the use of generators, even after a full night's use of the air conditioning, is rarely if ever required. Ekokat is not a fan of noisy smelly gennies ! See separate sections on more of these game-changing and spectacular features in detail

Jacuzzi on the
Fly'

Worthy of it's own section, Ekokat is one of the smallest power catamaran to offer a top deck hot tub on the Flybridge. Owners can choose from sunbeds, or a giant full width (beam) raised sunpad with or without a spectacular jacuzzi* The system has a fast fill and draining system allowing it to be majority filled approaching an anchorage and drained adequately before upping anchor and departing. Ekokat's solar retract system allows sun worshippers to decide how much sun they want on them whilst in the jacuzzi or the sunpad/beds. *For an actual 'Hot' Tub experience the jacuzzi requires overnight heating and use of the Whisper genies.

Starship Helm
Stations

Welcome to a superyacht driving experience on a 58ft power catamaran. Widely considered one of the best superyacht helm seat brands, Besenzoni offers a range of 50 high-precision pilot seats and Ekokat have specifically selected two that suit both the environment, and the requirement to install the majority of our Xenta and other control systems into the armrests. Xenta X Dock, an all-speed, all-steer, cruising joystick is for use outside the marina and not only for parking. It works on the same principle as cruise control in a car and literally means there is no need for a steering wheel. For those that cannot get their head around that, our fixed and redundancy helm station, centre-forward on the flybridge, provides familiarity with a traditional steering wheel, all controls needed and a 9 inch multi-function Raymarine Display. Indeed this may very well be your position for anchoring in tight spots and parking in the marina. Back to your Captain Kirk experience helm seat, there are two identical and convenient set-ups, port and starboard of the almost 8-metre beam flybridge. Each house Xenta X Power throttles, X Dock joystick, bow thrusters, anchor winch control with chain count, and start-stop. Commanding a prominent position right in front of each pilot seat is the largest Raymarine Multi-Function-Display available, the 24’ Axiom 2. Mounted on a slide-tilt mechanism, the display can be tilted down easily so as not to obstruct the view forward but still give instant access to all sub-screens being displayed. Radar, GPS plotter, engine systems and 4k infrared/colour, motorised panoramic actual views. Four cameras are mounted, flybridge forward and aft, and both forward and directly down underwater. Perfect for instrument driving , anchoring in areas with coral or other restrictive hazards, as well as fishing and amusing the kids! Last but not least, next to each captain seat is an identical guest/co-pilot seat without the controls, so they too can enjoy the perfect view and driving experience.

Lounge on
the Bow

Your private VIP lounge with unmatched panoramic 180° views of the ocean EkoKat has been cleverly thought out with practicality in mind, and also to enable families or groups of friends to spend private time if they wish by utilising different areas of the yacht. It has been conceived with unique layouts that are designed for long-stay yacht use. This means 2-3 couples/families could happily spend long periods of time afloat without getting in way of each other. This is important and only becomes apparent when spending more than a few days on a yacht with others. For this reason the foredeck on the bow (Lounge on the Bow), Flybridge, Cockpit with its Mezzanine sunpad, and of course the salon (penthouse apartment), are all equipped with everything you need to spend the entire day there if you wish. The Lounge on the Bow has its own galley with electric BBQ hob, fridge/freezer, ice maker, sink and storage. The 2 metre comfortable Teslin sofa is positioned for a ‘tappas bar’ style eating. The sunpad is huge at 3mx2m in size, with removable centre table and kite shade accommodating 4-6 people if desired. Spacious access to the 2 crew/single/kids den cabins with en suite toilet/shower are found on top of the hulls each side, whilst steps to the forward apartment toilet/bidet and huge shower room are just steps away inside the doorway. There is important storage to keep all lines/BERS, fenders and the bridle/snubber for the anchor out of sight, but with easy access. With the deliberate absence of side-decks, this Lounge on the Bow also becomes a private terrace for those sleeping forward in the penthouse apartment, and the shallow gradient steps provide access to the flybridge directly.

Mezzanine
Sunpad

The world's 1st and only 'Mezzanine Level (Aft) SunPad' MSD™ on a power catamaran. Yet another extraordinary 'super yacht' experience on a 58ft yacht, the MSD Sunpad is elevated 2.5 meters (8ft) above sea level and commands a wonderful view down over the ocean and our inflatable platform beach club when in position. As its name suggests, being at mezzanine level, the MSD can be accessed easily from the flybridge as well as the cockpit on the main deck. A truly remarkable and favourite part of the boat for sun worshippers and kids/families alike, with an easy-to-erect kite shade for some respite from the sun. This cockpit area of the yacht really comes into play for your sea-based activities with friends and the family. See sections below about the EkoKat Beach Club and e-water sports/scuba garage. With an electric BBQ, sink, fridge and ice maker, this entire and potentially private area is the equivalent of the Lounge on the Bow at the rear of the yacht. In fact very rarely do power catamarans have aft (the rear of the boat) sunpads, as this space is invariably used for an unsightly tender on a hydraulic platform or with crane mechanism. A completely unnecessary and costly expense, something else to go wrong and quite frankly an eye-sore. Look at the difference from a visual and practical perspective, sunpad or tender! The EkoKat tender is stored neatly under the MSD sunpad and out-of-view. It can be lowered into the water with electric remote control (or manually) in less than 1 minute without the need for hydraulic platforms and cranes, also meaning there is far less to go wrong. Practical, clever and, not over-the-top thinking has made the Mezzanine Sunpad and EkoKat cockpit area, linked directly to the flybridge, truly unique and you need to pinch yourself again to think you are not on a 120ft superyacht.

Dining In and
Out

EkoKat has been conceived with the avid lover of great dining experiences! In fact, we consider it to be a major part of time spent on board a yacht so much so a section on where and how to dine on board an Ekokat is very necessary here. Weather, sea conditions, and company on board can determine exactly where and how you undertake this pleasure usually 3 times every day. It could be too windy upfront or top, it could be raining or too cold to be outside at all. You may be with a large group or mixed-aged family with kids. As a result we have designed the yacht and four key areas of the boat to facilitate any circumstance or desire. EkoKat is all about being multifunctional, so much so we have a separate section on this below and consider it a unique feature. For example in the case of dining on smaller boats, often people prefer not to actually sit at a formal dining table too often and having one can therefore can be a waste of space. We do however recognise a formal arrangement can be the order of the day for a few hours, and therefore have clever systems to turn relaxation or other areas into formal places to eat within minutes. Starting inside, the kitchen galley acts as a kitchen work surface, sit-up bar, or with flaps that raise and extend outwards, a formal dining table for 6 people. Located aft of the apartment, with the doors closed the area is air-conditioned, but with the 4 metre wide glass sliding doors open fully, the fresh air can be enjoyed. It is important to be able to sit for several hours relaxing and chatting with your meal, so we offer the option for conventional stools or super comfortable dining chairs with longer legs. Up top on the flybridge you have the option of the sit-up bar/galley surface with an actual superyacht-inspired dumb waiter that brings your supplies up without the need to carry them up the steps. The array of single sofa seats and coffee table behind the 55ft TV on the flybridge doubles as a relax area for drinks, or by adding a 6ft oval acrylic table top that is stored inside the sunpad, a more formal arrangement and low-level seating dining for six is created. Down in the cockpit with privacy during Med style stern too docking, there is an arrangement for dining for an astonishing 12 people. The Lounge on the Bow can comfortably seat 4 people on Teslin sofa positioned by the Tappas Style dining top with direct ocean view. Last but not least our various sunpads come equipped with handy drinks holders (such a small but actually important thing, often missed by yacht builders) and slot-in tables/trays.

Luxury Penthouse Apartment

The star of the show when it comes to multi-functionality. Introducing the world’s 1st Luxury Penthouse Apartment (with sea view!) that transforms into a 2-3 or 4 bedroom Presidential Suite at night. There is so much to say on this subject, as well as the 62sqm 650sqft luxury floating apartment and all it offers in general, that we leave that for a dedicated page on the forthcoming new website. To summarise: Primarily conceived to help prevent motion/sea sickness by not accommodating guest bedrooms down in the hulls-of-the-boat at the waterline level. Our full beam (boat width) design, as well as our no-bedrooms-in-the-hulls approach, in many cases more than DOUBLES the floorspace of our apartment (main deck salon) over other similar-sized power catamarans, and as is the case with our flybridge, puts this primary and important space up at the size expected on a 100-120ft monohull superyacht. There are no awkward and potentially-dangerous when underway, side-decks on this boat as they are simply not needed with front door access to the front Lounge on the Bow. Huge open-plan luxury apartment with separate sofa/TV/relation/kitchen areas with electrically operated walls that create separate privacy rooms and/or bedrooms day or night. This truly unique and game changing approach has given us the space in the hulls to instead place giant superyacht-sized guest bathrooms with rain showers, vanity sink/dressing room areas and WC’s with bidets; extra-large sized fresh water makers and tanks; more than double the amount of lithium battery storage powered by our massive solar array so negating the need to run noisy and environmentally unfriendly generators; and provide larger crew/single room/kids dens cabins. The biggest sliding glass door entrance of any yacht

Quality night
Sleep

Sleeping in bedrooms down in the hulls of the boat at sea level is the worse place to be for those that suffer from motion or sea sickness. We have a separate section on that too, given it is not unusual, and as any boat owner will know can very quickly put an end to fun in the sun on board their yacht. There is no getting away from this fact. Down in cramped accommodation with little in the way of views of the horizon, gentle sways back and forwards, is the primary culprit of bringing on hell for the unfortunate sufferer. Good news from EkoKat. Nobody is sleeping down in the hulls. Think about it. Larger vessels and cruise boats have their premium accommodation as high up as possible. The big question for a yacht of less than 150ft in size is where will everyone sleep then? EkoKat thought long and hard about this and struck lucky with the notion of making the 61sqm 650sqft penthouse apartment (with direct seaview!) multi-functional. A series of electrically operated mirrored walls and super comfortable custom-built memory foam king-size and single sofa beds, literally transform this space into 2-3 or 4 luxury bedrooms at night. ALL of them with panoramic sea views raised at least 3 metres above the surface of the water and importantly, views of the horizon so your inner gyroscope does not get confused, so causing motion sickness. What this means and what the truly unique and game-changing Ekokat does: * Helps prevent motion and seasickness. * Provides far larger bedrooms with spectacular sea views. * Gives direct access to the outside fresh air and the Lounge of the Bow and cockpit. * Enables any number of private bedrooms/day rooms to be created instantly for any occasion. Create privacy, a place to relax or enable an open plan family with kids environment whenever you want, both day and night. Lastly but extremely importantly, this has enabled us to provide our 58ft yacht with simply huge superyacht-sized bathrooms, equipped with walk-in rain showers, vanity sinks and dressing room areas as well as large water closets with bidets. This is all possible of course because we have the space available in the hulls as there are no bedrooms there. There was enough space to have 4 sets of staircases descending to what is now a pleasurable bathroom experience, instead of what would normally be found on boats

Superyacht
Dumb Waiter

Let's face it, you have a luxury yacht like this and you have to carry all the food and drink up a ladder to the flybridge? You don't need to on a superyacht, so why should you on an EkoKat? No one is paying for the electricity other than the sun, so why not have a little assistance from DumbKat ~ the only powercat in its class, or even close to it to have one! Simple to operate, DumbKat appears from nowhere it seems, lowering down on telescopic supports just where and when you need it, in arms reach in the Penthouse Apartment galley kitchen At the press of a button it then disappears off up into the roof, up onto the flybridge, through the sit-up dining bar itself right up to counter level (in front of one lucky diner! It couldn't be more simple and more convenient.

Super Yacht Size Bathrooms

EkoKat has cleverly managed to create giant over-sized bathrooms onboard, and are yet again spaces the size usually found on a 100-120ft monohull yacht. Let’s face it, everyone likes a quality bathroom with lots of room to move around. Especially at sea on a boat. There is nothing worse that trying to squeeze into a tiny shower cubicle or manoeuvrer yourself into position on a WC! There is only so much space available on a sub 100ft boat though, however because EkoKat have not put bedrooms in the hulls of the yacht, this has meant we have ample available space to create giant bathrooms. Our walk-in rain showers are up to 1.7mx1m in size, enough room even for 2 people which also makes them ideal for families with small children. Descending the stairs you first arrive at a dressing area with vanity basin and mirrored cupboards. WC’s are big enough for bidets and showers and luxuriously tiled with rain shower and faucet attachments. Even the two crew/single room/kids dens have en-suite style rain shower and WC’s.

Crew Comfort
& Kids Dens

EkoKat believes that a happy crew is paramount to a happy and well managed boat. Owner and guest privacy is also important, so our two crew rooms are designed with size and comfort in mind, so the crew are very content to spend their own quality time in them. Once again because EkoKat have not placed guest bedrooms in the hulls they have enough space for much larger than normal crew rooms. Access easily from the Lounge on the Bow, oversized hatches descend from the top of the bows into areas that occupy the entire front of both hulls. Here is a full-sized single bed with swing out Smart TV and Tablet that enables the crew to monitor the ships systems as well as the 4K cameras that face out to sea both forward and rear, as well as an underwater view in the direction of the anchor and directly down. Small things but highly useful. There is a vanity sink and storage cupboards and a door leading to the WC and rain shower with separate faucet. These crew rooms have also been designed and furnished so they can also be used as two guest single rooms for owner operated situations, or as Ekokat can comfortably be operated with just a Captain, one of them could be used by guests. We also call them ‘Kids Dens’ as they make the perfect play area for the kids with TV and computer tablet. While Mum and Dad relax on the Lounge on the Bow, the kids are even safely in ear-shot adjacent to them.

Layout
Plans

Ekokat has extensive options for its Penthouse Apartment ranging from 2-4 private guest bedrooms (sleeping up to 8). We even offer full customisation with your own private interior designer included, as well as day and business boat options. Given the flexibility of the EkoKat unique electric walls that create individual private guest rooms, we are able to offer layouts that range considerably and to personal choice. Choose an owner preference layout with master suite that occupies the entire front half of the penthouse and yacht itself, an almost 8m 26ft wide, giant full beam luxury suite with 180° degree large panoramic windows and door to the Lounge on the Bow. Effectively a private terrace. Both sides of the suite have descending staircase to extra-large bathrooms and dressing areas. This Owner preference layout is definitely an arrangement befitting a 120ft superyacht. Alternatively split this owner master suite into 2 guest suites with corridor to the Lounge on the Bow in between, still offering larger bedroom space than hull bedroom boats, and both having full, side and forward, large panoramic windows In all instances our guest bedrooms are all 3m 10ft above sea level with giant panoramic view windows and access to the outside fresh air. The rear half of the Penthouse is also full beam width and can be configured with one giant L shape cinema style luxury sofa that converts to a king size bed exposing a 5 star hotel grade memory foam topper mattress and Egyptian cotton bedding. This massive suite space then having exclusive use of the entire rear section of the Penthouse and galley/sit up bar, for 2 adults or a family with 4m wide sliding glass doors in this instance having use of the cockpit area as a private terrace. Completely unique. The rear half of the Penthouse can also be configured to split the area into two separate bedrooms, effectively making up to a 4 guest bedroom yacht. The layout options are almost endless and can be tailored to each buyer, or group of buyers (co-ownership) preferences. Remembering of course there are also two crew cabins that double as one or two single guest rooms dependant on the use of one, two or no crew. EkoKat is truly unique an trend setting in this approach to not putting guests down in the hulls to sleep and a multi-functional main deck salon. It is the worse place to be for anyone that suffers from motion sickness. Not only that but it has meant all bedrooms are huge with panoramic views and direct access to the outside fresh air, and it has also enabled us to use the hull space more creatively and provide superyacht sized bathrooms. Game-Changing by definition.

Meet the
Sun

EkoKat's simply Loves the Sun. Our solar array is equipped with some of the highest-powered solar panels available today, and there are a lot of them. We also understand 'looks' can be important so rather than cover visible areas of the yacht, we have placed them all entirely on the bimini roof, out of sight to all but the birds in the sky above. This however initially presented an issue of obstructing the sun's rays from the flybridge and sun-worshipping guests on board. Enter SkyRoof™, a unique Solar Panel Retract System. The result was the best of both worlds. A giant fixed bimini roof providing complete protection from the rain (should you find yourself out in any), and the glare and penetrating UV rays of the sun on the skippers forehead. At the press of a button the forward and aft sections of the roof retracts to allow the sun to present itself to those on the aft sunbeds or jacuzzi and 8m full beam sun pad, as well as the skipper and guests on the forward raised flybridge sun pad. Our enormous and unique retractable Solar Array SkyRoof™ is equipped with the latest and most powerful panels available on the market, and along with monster lithium battery units and an oversized inverter, EkoKat provides all the power you need to run your entire AC system, including all air-conditioning units, four 55' TV's and even a dumb waiter, both night and day. Not to mention the electric watersports garage ~ Oh, and it is no eye-sore, you cannot even see it!

4k under/over water Panoramic Vision

When it comes to the subject of safe anchoring, as well as seeing the teeming underwater world in 4K clarity without getting wet, EkoKat has you covered. EkoKat's 1.1m 4ft draft with rudders lower than the props and stainless steel forward hull protection shields, means EkoKat isn’t scared of shallow sandy seabeds, and loves to hunt out super shallow anchorages in tiny little coves. With the sudden emergence of coral reef, bommie, and other hazards, care needs to take serious care not to hit anything! It doesn't only require coral reefs though for the diligent skipper to need to know what’s going on under the surface of the water and our 4k Infrared panoramic remote-operated camera system is second to none for giving you total coverage. Also great for fishing! Vision above water can also be extremely useful, especially if you fancy controlling the boat from downstairs in the penthouse apartment. Combined with radar and obstacle alerts switched on, GPS map plotter and our flybridge forward and aft 4k cameras, this yacht really can be operated using instruments-only day and night. (Clearly someone on deck and on watch is always the most diligent choice). Our over and underwater 4k infrared camera system when used in conjunction with our 24’ Axoim 2 MFD displays at both flybridge helm stations is the pinnacle of technology and is also great fund for the family and kids to observe. We have never seen a power catamaran yacht kitted out to such an extent but feel it is just another example of EkoKat’s game-changing approach to yachting.

Private Beach Club

Superyachts spring to mind again with EkoKats exclusive floating beach club. The 'in-thing' to have modula easy-to-set-up beachclubs tailored to your needs. In fact, whilst on the subject, over the years there has certainly been many fine invention and innovation that has propelled the motor yacht industry forward at a great rate of knots making life a lot easier for the boat owner. There are some however that EkoKat feel are unnecessary, potential very dangerous, less practical and waste of money. Hydraulic platforms are all good and well in principal. Lowering guests (and tenders) into the water. What happens if they go wrong and fail. If a hydraulic platform fails when submerged the engines cannot be operated for safety reasons. What happens if you are on anchor and slipping? This can all happen and does. They also comprise of huge sections of sharp metal brackets and motors, and can be hazardous especially to children if not operated properly. Why bother? Surely the superyacht approach is both safer and offers a far more extensive experience in the water. Modula platforms are inflated in less than 3 minutes and simple to place into position and remove and store. Our owner can choose from any number of platforms and accessories and create their own ideal beach club with umbrellas, sun loungers and even a swimming pool with nets to keep unwanted sea creatures out! Inflatable beach clubs are all the rage with superyachts and come in all shapes and sizes. EkoKat comes supplied with two platforms that extend the full width of the yacht and from here you can build your own personal layout from a wide range of options. EkoKat offer branded inflatable platforms and also manufacture our own branded as EkoSea

Take me to
the Beach

EkoKat loves shallow water anchorages and has been designed specifically to even sit on the sandy seabed if needed. This means it can even rock right up to the beach! Imagine sat atop the luxury flybridge sky lounge, sipping cocktails and people watching with the tips of EkoKat’s hulls kissing the sandy beach. This is completely possible with EkoKat providing the water is deep enough at the back of the boat to reverse away again. A great party trick or way to visit a secluded beach or island, or even park outside your beach residence if you have one! The front of the hulls have stainless stell tips to protect the paintwork, and the rudders at the rear are lower than the props to stop them getting damaged if the boat touches the seabed. Simple but practical thinking not only protects the yacht from damage in shallow water, but is great peace of mind when anchoring in shallow water.

e-watersports
garage

EkoKat’s philosophy when it comes to what makes a standard boat, differs greatly from most brands. We do not advertise a lead-in base price boat that is not realistic so that when you add up the options that make it practical, you realise you have spent another 30% on top of the price again. Beware of brands that are famous for this. An example of that is the EkoKat e-watersports garage. We supply 2 e-foils and 2 sea scooters with charging cradles stored away out of sight underneath the cockpit rear sunpad. EkoKat are pleased to work with Sublue and their new Vapor SeaScooter, giving Seabob a great run for their money, with greater speed and control. Our e-foils are from Waydoo, great all round, quality boards. You can even choose a dive tank compressor and scuba tanks instead if you like, all within the base price.

Hold on Very
Tight

To any responsible boat owner the anchor is likely to be most important thing on their yacht. The Best anchor in the World as standard with EkoKat. Changing weather and sea conditions can very quickly have serious consequences, let alone affecting a good night's sleep wondering if the boat is dragging. The ULTRA anchor claim to be the World's Best anchor seems fairly undisputed and whilst it's price tag reflects this, it is money well spent in Ekokat's opinion. In fact we are the only production Power Catamaran yacht under 100ft in the world to fit Ultra anchors as standard without charging extra, which we hope says a lot. The Ultra decades old proven design literally scoops up and digs into the sand, where other classic designs use the plough effect which does the opposite. Hand made in 316 stainless steel and hand polished. A failing and dragging anchor can potentially mean the end of your boat, so surely our decision to fit the best as STANDARD even if it is 5 x as expensive is the right one. EkoKat comes with 100 metres of chain, allowing anchoring in 20 metres of water with a 5 x length to depth ratio.

WaveRider Hull
Design

EkoKat has adopted the Stawad WaveRider hull series proven design, and was sea trialled by the team with hull/yacht number 5 in July this year (see video). WaveRider effortlessly does exactly as its name suggests, with this proven power catamaran efficient hull design series, cutting through, and riding through the highest of seas with precision. The design ensures oncoming water flow is channelled through the tunnel between the 2 hulls, following a trajectory rearwards as efficiently as possible, so as to least impact onto the supporting bridge deck. As Ekokat is a performance power catamaran capable of speeds of 20-25 knots, this helps reduce slam noise and interference with boat steering and control. It also protects the boat against wear and tear. Ekokat's foredeck (lounge on the bow) and tops of the hulls at the front of the boat, sit 2.6 metres above the water level. This means it is the perfect boat for cruising in locations and conditions with big waves. With a medium sea state and waves of 1-1.5 metre (4-5ft) in height, guests can happily sit up front and not get wet as well as enjoy a smooth ride. Furthermore, Ekokat's 'bridgedeck', the horizontal part of the structure that joins the 2 hulls together, is a very generous 1.2 metres (3.6ft), again meaning as little disturbance from water flowing through under it especially at high speeds. Many yacht brand designers sacrifice a high bridgedeck level from the water level, as it means reducing the head height in hull bedrooms. Ekokat of course do not have hull bedrooms so we do no have this issue and can therefore have the boat sit higher out of the water to provide a smoother ride and less chance of getting wet when sat up on the bow!

Precision Build
and Parts

It is critical to note EkoKat is built with precision and top quality brand parts throughout, and is the epitome of luxury Our incredible value yacht price tag does not need to suggest anything otherwise. Remember, our no-bedrooms-in-the hulls and multi-functional penthouse apartment was primarily conceived to help prevent sea-sickness amongst many other benefits, and most certainly not to save money. However, as a by-product it of course does just that as well. In fact, many of our game changing and fundamental design features have the same knock on effect. As well as not having to fill the hulls with bathrooms and ensuite bathrooms, for example we have no expensive hydraulic bathing platform, tender garage or crane mechanism (see sections on our far more practical solutions to these). We also have an exceptional factory and team dedicated to EkoKat production and extremely efficient buying power. As a result you can be sure of a premium grade CE A category motor yacht with incredible and unique features, at a jaw dropping price tag to go with it.

Power and
Performance

EkoKat's powertrain engine options cover a wide range of demands and offer unbeatable performance figures for a 40-ton motor yacht. Cruise with astounding fuel consumption from just 26 litres per hour (2 engines) and achieve top speeds of up to 25 knots with our Yanmar or Volvo Penta options. For actual cost examples see the bottom of this description. Summarising actual engine options, speeds and fuel consumption first: Choose the Yanmar 550's if you like slow cruising at an astounding 25-30ltrs/hr, a maximum range just exceeding 1000nm, and are happy with occasional bursts of up to 20knots. For 10 knots cruising at just 50 ltrs/hour, good 15/16 knot mid-range speed cruising economy, and a very comfortable 20-22 knot regular top speed you will want the Yanmar 640's. If you like to get to places in a hurry with a top speed of up to 25 knots, and still enjoy a great fuel burn of 125 ltrs per hour cruising at less that 1700 rpm and 15 knots, fit her with the Volvo Penta D13 800's. What does this mean in laymans terms and actual money spent to use your yacht? Take for example an EkoKat berthed at either of our two bases at Lustica Bay Marina, Montenegro or Sandy Lane Yacht Club, St Vincent in the Caribbean. Both of these locations enable a full weekend break out at sea using a lot less fuel than you might think, providing you don’t fly around at top speed. Sandy Lane Yacht Club, a weekend exploring the famous Tobago Cays and Salt Whistle Bay anchorages will actually only take you a total of 15 nautical miles. Remember you are spending most of the time on anchor not using any engine or generator fuel at all. You could comfortably change position and anchor in different spots numerous times during the weekend, and also remember these are some of the most spectacular cruising waters in the world. For Lustica Bay, Montenegro, spending the weekend in the bay itself and anchor off one of the many beach clubs or find secluded spots will also keep you within this 15 nautical mile range. Return back to the marina after a fabulous time, and if you kept your speed down to very slow cruise

Extraordinarily
Multifunctional Design

Almost certainly by far the most innovatively multi-functional power catamaran in the world. This page has shown many multi-functional unique features of Ekokat, but we thought since there are so many and because this makes the yacht so exceptional and desirable, we would give the subject its own Unique Feature heading. From the worlds 1st duel-function main deck salon, a luxury Penthouse Apartment by day and a Presidential Suite at night, and from dining areas that start off as light snacks and drinks and quickly become suitable for formal dinners, EkoKat has maximised the use of space, that itself has been extraordinarily thought out for practicality, in such a way that owners and guests on board the yacht can happily spend many days or even weeks afloat, and not feel cramped or on top of one another.

Little Things
that Count

No yacht has had so much thought put into PRACTICALITY on board than Ekokat, designed by actual yachtspeople that have spent thousands of hours at sea. People that have experienced operating yachts in multiple continents with varying climates, tidal differentials, and with guests ranging from babies through to grandparents. What is it like to be on board for extended periods of time under varying conditions. What is practical and what is not. Quite often the tiniest of things matter. So many yachts these days seem to trade practicality for latest architect design features, and the drive to out beat other architects! EkoKat is full of such practicality as well as innovation and spectacular design, from the smallest of things such as drinks holders in all places on the boat one would want them, especially when underway. Sat on the bow of a boat travelling at speed having to hold on to your drink constantly is just annoying. All the way to clever thinking when it comes to the example of the forward sunpad on the flybridge of Ekokat. As any yacht person will know, and from their experience at sea with varying weather and climate, it may be a lovely sunny day but there could be a slight nip or chill in the air travelling along at speed or even when on anchor. It can be frustrating for the guest being unable to sit on the bow of the boat, and where they are forced to move out of wind to the back of the boat (hence another reason for EkoKat’s Mezzanine level Sunpad MSD). In this instance the flybridge may also be out of bounds, but not with EkoKat. Notice how the forward sunpad is raised up 1.2m (4ft). This is deliberate and allows the sunworshipper to lay in the sun (solar roof in retract mode), or simply relax in the shade, whilst importantly shielded from the wind ahead (notice the wind deflectors with curled wing tips in front of the sunpad). This exact height means with person laid down they are out of wind, but sat up with backrest raised, head and shoulders are high enough to get a 180° panoramic view, with the rest of body still out of wind. With a long A long passage from point A to B, this small thing can make a significant difference. The whole point of the journey is to gaze out, and ideally at what is in front. We use this as just one example of the lengths we have gone to with every single square inch of the boat. There may be times when there is compromise, but the fundamental point is show how EkoKat firmly believes it is ‘the little things that count’ as well

Yacht
Swap

A word on how a well-managed Yacht Swap programme can open up an entirely new world, effectively making one privately owned yacht feel like two or more privately owned yachts and in different locations worldwide. This is very much not timeshare and for outright boat owners it is entirely optional. For our fractional co-ownership yachts, you physically own 1/6th one particular yacht. All that is happening is you have the opportunity to swap some of your annual private usage allocation with other EkoKat co-owners in other locations around the world if you wish (or even the same location). What this does in the case of Montenegro, that is more heavily seasonally based around the Spring to Autumn time of the year** is allow greater flexibility and year-round yacht enjoyment as well as destination diversity. St Vincent and The Grenadines, the EkoKat Caribbean base, and one of the finest cruising playgrounds on the planet, has its high season during opposite months. December to April being peak season. (In actual fact the Caribbean is year-round with annual daily temperatures always between 28-32, and warm evenings) ** That said, many North Europeans residents still enjoy a great time onboard a yacht in Montenegro in the winter months, considering the climate and weather they have at home. The general rule of thumb is that if it is not cloudy and the sun is out (this is often again when comparing with Northern European), temperatures around 17-18° are usual, and this means shorts and a tee-shirt during daylight hours. Furthermore there are countless things to combine with the time on your yacht, from sightseeing to even snow skiing. One day you can be in shorts sat out of wind on board an Ekokat soaking up the suns rays and the next skiing the slopes of Kolasin. An extremely attractive option, especially for North Europeans. The EkoKat storage service means we look after personal effects like bedding, even down to pictures for the wall and kids toys, to be stored and only put on the boat when it is your turn to use it. For all intents and purposes you primary yacht that you own a share in feels like your own, and for those that request, we can even ship personal belongings on to a yacht you may Yacht Swap with anywhere in the world. EkoKat co-ownership yachts will start in Montenegro and The Grenadines, but will expand outwards to other parts of the Med and Caribbean as well as likely Dubai and there are plans for Bali too and the Gili Islands. Operated professionally and with the input from superyacht management and charter company (an Ekokat shareholder) Yacht Agent Montenegro, Ekokat firmly believe we have by far the best yacht management, charter and Yacht Swap programme available today and by a long margin.

BERS~Bowline Easy Retrieval System

A solution designed for full-beam (width) power catamarans such as EkoKat and ‘Med Style’ stern-to-parking (the need to pick up a bow line and walk to the front of the boat on the side decks for those that are familiar), has turned out to be a great solution even for boats with side-decks. Our unique and highly practical designed tool for the job, can now be purchased from EkoKat by anyone with any boat type. The single and only really viable argument for having side-decks is for this specific job (or thought to be). Coming into park up, reversing into your space, retrieving the bowline with a boat hook, walking to the front of the boat along the side decks whilst pulling the boat away from the dock, before tying it down firmly using a cleat. This suspends the boat away from the dock. How to do this with no side decks? The animation and pictures should explain. Every possible circumstance has been thought of** from tightly packed boats together to the BERS getting caught on knots in the bowline underwater. Why is BERS also so suitable for boats with side decks? Because bowlines can be notoriously dirty/muddy and if they have been in the water for several years, likely covered in sharp barnacles that can slice cuts in your hands. It is jovially known as the ‘worst job’ in boating, if you don’t wear gloves you can end up with razor sharp cuts that can go sceptic and hurt a lot! and you will most likely get your boat dirty with mud and silt splashing all along your side decks. Any seasoned Med boat owner and users knows what we are saying! It is all down to the marina and the conditions underwater. (remember as well, there are always disrespectable boat users at every marina, that will choose to empty their black tanks in the marina, we have all seen it. We don’t need to say any more on that subject) So strangely BERS is very much of use for any boat and any boat owner/user. ** By the way EkoKat is deigned to put out 6-7 fenders each side, with the middle three being lowered from the flybridge and secured and adjusted on 3 metre lines from up top. There are large windows that open inwards and up, both port and starboard in the salon, which are primarily for letting the breeze in when on anchor, but also offer useful access when tightly packed into a parking sport Med Style. Rarely do boat owners mind stepping on their boat if parked next to you and if needing to untangle fenders and lines, and worst case scenario boats can be pushed aside and a dinghy can even be got between them.
