Factory Visit & Sea Trial July 2024

Short video of the Ekokat Team and buyers visiting the facility to take a sea trial of power catamaran yacht #5 and tour the factory floor. Yachts #6 and #7 of the WaveRider hull design are in-build, and preparations are underway for Ekokat to continue the series with hull #8-38 from November this year.

Stawad WaveRider Hull

Ekokat and the Proven WaveRider Hull

The Stawad WaveRider hull series design was sea trialled by the Ekokat team with hull/yacht number 5 in July this year (see video above). WaveRider effortlessly does exactly as its name suggests, with this proven power catamaran efficient hull design series, cutting through, and riding through the highest of seas with precision. The design ensures oncoming water flow is channeled through the tunnel between the 2 hulls, following a trajectory rearwards as efficiently as possible, so as to least impact onto the supporting bridgedeck.

Ekokat assumes WaveRider hull numbers 8-36 per the above slot build programme.

As Ekokat is a performance power catamaran capable of speeds of 20-25 knots, this helps reduce slam noise and interference with boat steering and control. It also protects the boat against wear and tear. Ekokat's foredeck (lounge on the bow) and tops of the hulls at the front of the boat, sit 2.6 metres above the water level. This means it is the perfect boat for cruising in locations and conditions with big waves. With a medium sea state and waves of 1-1.5 metre (4-5ft) in height, guests can happily sit up front and not get wet as well as enjoy a smooth ride.

Furthermore, Ekokat's 'bridgedeck', the horizontal part of the structure that joins the 2 hulls together, is a very generous 1.2 metres (3.6ft), again meaning as little disturbance from water flowing through under it especially at high speeds. Many yacht brand designers sacrifice a high bridgedeck level from the water level, as it means reducing the head height in hull bedrooms. Ekokat of course do not have hull bedrooms so we do no have this issue and can therefore have the boat sit higher out of the water to provide a smoother ride and less chance of getting wet when sat up on the bow!

The Ekokat Voyager 58 is supplied and commissioned with CE A classification.

The CE Yacht Compliance Classification System is the European (CE stands for “Conformité Européenne” in French) dictating the standards for CE Certification for construction and sale of boats. Vessels in one of the categories of controlled products cannot be legally sold in the EU unless they have past the tests to receive the CE Certification. This regulation applies to all yachts for sale and recreational craft from 2.5 to 24 meters. The Ekokat Voyager 58 being just under 18 metres. CE CLASS A is the highest classification. Yachts that are CE A are designed for large sea voyages (everywhere), in which wind force may exceed 8 on the scale of Beaufort and waves can also exceed a significant height of 4 meters. These yachts are designed largely to be self-sufficient in this rather hostile environment.

The European CE classification system is generally recognised worldwide as being the most comprehensive and rigorous in its testing.
